OUR CAUSE

Your help is very important

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EEo, EoE) is a chronic disease that affects the esophagus and prevents swallowing food normally, causing dysphagia, the most common symptoms are vomiting and pain in the chest or abdominal. Without treatment, the clinic progressively worsens and as the disease worsens, the esophagus loses it becomes rigid and loses its normal functioning, if this phase is reached, recovery becomes impossible.

The prevalence is 1-5 / 10,000. In Spain there are more than 45,000 affected people of all ages: infants, children and adults.

Campaña #vEoEsperanza

EoE greatly deteriorates the quality of life of those who suffer from this disease, as they cannot eat normally, or even drink, many patients must go to the emergency room to resolve these impaction episodes, usually with endoscopy.

This condition creates very important social withdrawal, patients isolate themselves in the safe environment of their homes, where they try to eat soft or crushed food, and be able to induce vomiting to free themselves from a food impaction.

This situation imposes a constant worry about food and generates anxiety about the possibility of suffering a blockage in the esophagus. Meals in any environment social relationships, as well as in schools, jobs, travel, etc. are impossible, tremendously affecting the quality of life.

EoE is a chronic and progressive disease that can appear in babies, children and adults and every year the number of people affected increases.

We want to investigate EoE to find treatments that improve the quality of life of patients. Only with your help can we

Goals

What is our objective?

The main objective of this project is to develop research for a new treatment that keeps the disease inactive (without inflammation and symptoms), that has a minimum risk of side effects and that can be carried out in children, adolescents and adults.

Crowdfunding will be the financing of a study developed by the Hospital de Tomelloso that demonstrates the effectiveness of a new treatment.

Who benefits this project?

The latest studies carried out in Spain have shown that at least 1 in every 1000 people suffer from EoE.

This means that in Spain there are approximately 45,000 people with the disease, although many have not been diagnosed yet.

In addition, it must be taken into account that every year 7.7 new cases appear for every 100,000 inhabitants, which means 3,000 new cases each year that are added to the total number of patients. A large part of the patients are children.
